The Malta Basketball Association would like to publicly express solidarity with the young footballer Ms. Maya Lucia after the alleged case of racial abuse during a youth football league match last Sunday.

The MBA believes in promoting sport that is open to all. Above that, in youth events, there should be further awareness and education towards the concept that sport is a human right and every individual must have the possibility to practice sport, without discrimination of any kind.

In this regard, the MBA wholly condemns such alleged racial abuse and urges other sport entities to do likewise to send a clear and united message to the general public that racism and discrimination have no place in sport.
