SOUTHERN DEVELOPMENT BASKETBALL LEAGUE (SDBL) DEBUTS AT TA’ QALI , MALTA – The Malta Basketball Association (MBA) is proud to announce the formal recognition and launch of the Southern Development Basketball League (SDBL). Organized by the Valletta Dream Basketball Club (Affiliation VO2557), this new competitive platform is set to enhance the local basketball landscape through a high-standard, closed-format tournament.Tournament Overview The SDBL is designed to provide a structured environment for competitive growth, featuring a rigorous schedule and a professional administrative framework.* Venue: All matches will be hosted at the Basketball Complex, Ta’ Qali, the heart of Maltese basketball.* Duration: The inaugural season runs from 09 March 2026 to 31 May 2026.* Format: The league consists of 6 approved teams competing in a 2-round regular season (30 matches), followed by high-stakes play-offs for the top 4 contenders (8 matches).Professional Standards & Integrity To ensure the highest level of sporting integrity, the SDBL operates under a comprehensive legal and organizational package.
