The Malta Basketball Association strongly condemns the racist comments directed at local athlete Rashed Al-Tumi, who has been the target of racially-motivated comments on social media.

The MBA expresses solidarity with the Maltese goalkeeper and stresses that racism and discrimination should have no place in our society.

Attacks and comments of this kind are never accepted especially from persons who also were or are involved in the general sports community, most especially ex-club officials from the basketball community. In this regard, the MBA would like to clarify that Mr Edmund Farrugia is not an active official having been suspended by the MBA since 2017.
