All senior leagues and cup finals cancelled.

Following an urgent Council meeting held this evening, the local basketball clubs agreed, with great regret after that all the sacrifices they made along the season were seemingly totally disregarded, to cancel the senior leagues for this season, namely the BOV Men First Division, the MAPFRE MSV Life Women League as well as the BOV Amateur Men League together with the finals of the BOV Knock Out Men in both the senior men categories.

The general feeling, as discussed amongst the clubs this evening, was one of great lamentation and following the latest decision by the Government and the Health Authorities to prolong the outright ban on all sport as each club had made considerable efforts to safeguard all those involved whilst having to bear extra financial costs to ensure a safe playing environment and adopting a stringent COVID-19 protocol as well as compulsory swab tests for all players and officials ahead of every game.

Following this decision by the clubs at the council meeting, the Malta Basketball Association has no other option but to cancel all the men and women senior leagues as well as the men BOV Knock-out finals for season 2020/2021 thereby rendering them null.
